Truth: I’m loving a lot of things lately. Mostly, I’m loving them from afar because my budget isn’t quite that stretchy. The things I’m loving at close range fall mostly in the under $20 category. All the more reason that you might find yourself loving these same things soon, too!
1. Gnarly Head Old Vine Zin. I picked it up at Costco on a whim and I have loved every sip since then. It’s an old vine Zinfandel made by Gnarly Head and it’s so good. The pros describe it as rich with dark berry flavors and layers of spice. I would add that it is exceptionally smooth and lighter than one might expect, making it a perfect red to usher in spring. The best part, though? It costs about $8 a bottle.
2. Color Whisper Lipstick by Maybelline. I’m anything but a pink or red lipstick kind of girl; those colors don’t agree with my warm tone. Typically, I opt for something in the coral or beige family, but I recently went out on a limb to try something different. The shade I’m loving is called “Bare to be Bold” and it’s about as nude as you can get. To achieve a 3-D lip look, I’ve been using this lipstick in combination with a nude lip liner and Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Gloss, Natural Boost 200.
4. The Bible: The Epic Miniseries. Admittedly, only a single episode has aired so I guess I can’t be loving it that much. But I am loving what I saw last night. Produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, this 10-part miniseries is off to a promising start. I love that the whole family can sit down and watch it together. When we did so last night, it prompted some great questions from our six-year-old. So, too, did it give him a chance to show off the Bible knowledge he’s learned in Sunday school and in his nightly devotions with Daddy. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you start DVR’ing this series (Sunday nights on the History Channel) and make time to watch it with your family. The timing couldn’t be better either, since Easter is right around the corner!
5. Lemon cupcakes. I’ve mentioned a time or two that I tend to go all googly-eyed at the mention of cupcakes. We used to have a local cupcake specialty store that served up the most delicious ones I’d ever tasted–light and airy with equal parts tang and sweet. That cupcake store has since gone under, but the good news is that I’ve found a recipe that definitely mimics the lemon cupcakes I grew to love. Try them. You’re welcome and I’m sorry.*I have not received any compensation for this post. I’m simply sharing some of my favorite things with you.* *This post contains Amazon affiliate links.*
